05 How do Zanzibar’s tides affect beach activities?
The east and south-east coasts can experience a noticeable tidal retreat, revealing shallow lagoons and wide sand flats. Swimming, snorkelling and boat departures may therefore be planned around the daily tide cycle. Northern beaches are generally less affected.
